Please note some records missing for 1957, 1963, 1968 and 1982-84, 1987-1989, 1992, 1994, 1997. No records available for 1971 - 1981, 1985, (except fastest crew).

Race categories
& Handicaps

So what categories of boat are available? Remember this is an event for eight oared sweep boats only. Each year the race categories are reviewed. All masters crews and mixed eights are handicapped. From 2005, the Rowing Scoring system will apply to the race categories formally called Open (now "A"), Intermediate (now "B") and Novice (now "C"). The school categories will remain unchanged.

There are also a number of prizes awarded.

All entry fees: AUD$200 per crew (AUD$250 for international crews includes affiliation)

The following handicaps are based on the Australian Masters handicaps. The 1km handicap is multiplied by 8.6km, which is the measured distance of the course.

These handicaps automatically apply when you enter a Mixed Eight or Masters category in Head of the Yarra. The coxswain's age does not impact upon the handicap.
