History of results and clubs entered in Head of the Yarra since first race in 1957, pictures of program covers too.

Please note helped required to find all past records - especially 1970's. We also wish to get photos of all official HOY T-Shirts. Please let us know if you can help.

Please note some records missing for 1957, 1963, 1968 and 1982-84, 1987-1989, 1992, 1994, 1997. No records available for 1971 - 1981, 1985, (except fastest crew).

2008 will see the 50th staging of Head of the Yarra - Saturday 29th November 2008.

Awarded The People’s Choice Regatta for 2005, 2006 and 2007

Awarded Regatta of the Year 2003/04 by Rowing Victoria

Registration

Information for ALL entries:

  • 2008 entries not yet open.
  • Crews can only race once (per year!) in the event due to the nature of the race (and as if racing 8.6km wasn't enough!).
  • All entrants must be a member of an affiliated club.
  • Composite crews may be represented in Masters, Mixed and the A (Open) categories. Composite is not permitted in school categories, or the B (Intermediate) or C (Novice) categories.
  • All entrants must wear their club attire (composite crews therefore will be displaying multiple uniforms)
  • All Australian entries must be via ROMS

Entries from Australian crews

All Australian entries must be via ROMS. Entries from Australian crews can no longer be accepted directly to the club. ROMS entries need not send payment - you will be invoiced directly by Rowing Victoria.

Entries from International crews

International entries may be made via post or email - the 2008 entry form will be available here later in the year.

  • Be sure to complete all sections of the entry form
  • Be sure to include Year of Birth data for all participants in Masters and Mixed Crews
